Acuvue Oasys for Presbyopia vs Acuvue Moist Multifocal, what do they have in common?
These multifocal lenses by Acuvue both correct presbyopia. Acuvue Oasys is a lens that can be worn daily and replaced every 2 weeks, it can also be slept in for 6 nights consecutively if approved by your optician. Daily disposable lenses can be worn daily and must be replaced every day, making the 1-Day Acuvue Moist lens very convenient. These lenses both have a visibility tint as well as a 123 mark, for easy handling. You’ll also get similar levels of UV protection with both of these lenses.
What are the differences between Acuvue Oasys for Presbyopia and Acuvue Moist Multifocal?
The designs of these lenses are very similar, it is the material that is the biggest difference between these lenses. Acuvue Oasys for Presbyopia uses Stereo Precision Technology to help correct presbyopia for stable vision, even in changeable lighting. This lens also has a surface treatment which helps with the comfort of your eyes, especially great for older people as our eyes tend to get drier as we age. 1-day Acuvue Moist Multifocal is a hydrogel material lens with an aspheric design, allowing the lens to move effortlessly with your eye to provide clear vision at all distances.
Acuvue Oasys for Presbyopia is a silicone hydrogel lens which allow up to 6 times the amount of oxygen through to the eye compared to standard hydrogel lenses. The lens utilises LACREON technology, a wetting agent that embeds moisture into every layer of the lens, providing long-lasting comfort. Acuvue Oasys has HYDRACLEAR technology which helps the lens to attract and retain moisture.
Which is better Acuvue Moist or Oasys?
These lenses are the same design, they have different wearing times and have been made using different materials. Acuvue Moist is a more hygienic option as you can replace them every day, however they are a little more expensive than Acuvue Oasys. If you’re after an easy multifocal contact lens that doesn’t require a cleaning routine, Acuvue Moist Multifocal might be a better fit for you. You should consult your optician if you’re unsure about which lens to go for and they will help you find the right lens for your eyes and your lifestyle.
