Which is better Proclear or Biofinity?
Biofinity Multifocal is considered to be an upgrade to Proclear Multifocal. As silicone hydrogel contact lenses, Biofinity allows more oxygen to reach the eye than Proclear allowing for a more comfortable lens wearing experience.
Due to their breathable material, Biofinity can also be worn overnight as extended wear contact lenses (if approved by your optician).
How does Proclear Multifocal compare to Biofinity Multifocal?
Both Proclear Multifocal and Biofinity Multifocal contact lenses are designed to correct presbyopia and address discomfort from dry eye. However, they both utilise different technologies to achieve this.
Proclear Multifocal uses Balanced Progressive Technology which provides multiple correction zones in each lens that are tailored to your personal prescription. They also utilise CooperVision’s PC Technology to combat dry eyes which is usually caused by presbyopia. This technology ensures optimal comfort and hydration for fresh lenses all day long with a barely there natural feel. It does this by binding water to the lenses, maintaining up to 96% of its water after 12 hours of wear.
Biofinity Multifocal on the other hand relies on Aquaform technology to reduce the risk of dry eye. It works by allowing the lenses to retain water and lock in moisture. These lenses combine multiple prescriptions into one lens to correct presbyopia and feature Balanced Progressive Technology to provide presbyopic patients clear vision at all distances.
Biofinity Multifocal contact lenses are more expensive than Proclear Multifocal lenses due to their silicone hydrogel material.
