Proclear 1 Day vs Acuvue Moist
Medically reviewed by Sharon Copeland on 10 August 2021
Proclear 1 Day and Acuvue Moist are both daily contact lenses that can be thrown away at the end of each day. These daily disposable soft contact lenses have some similarities, they both contain a wetting agent to help retain moisture in the lens for comfortable contact lens wear. There are some differences between these contact lens brands to consider when deciding which lens to go for, see our comparison of these two products below.

What are the differences between Acuvue Moist and Proclear 1 Day?
These lenses are made from different materials. Acuvue Moist protects you from 98.8% of UVB and 85.1% of UVA rays, whereas Proclear does not have any UV protection. Acuvue Moist is a higher price point, but this added expense is due to the more advanced and breathable lens material.
What are the similarities between Acuvue Moist and Proclear 1 Day
Both of these lenses are daily wear lenses that provide visual correction. These lenses must be replaced daily, providing the ultimate convenience for contact lens wearers. utilise a wetting agent. Acuvue Moist uses LACREON Technology which unlike other wetting agents, isn’t blinked away by the eye lid, for moisture that lasts throughout wear. This technology also allows the lens to glide seamlessly over the eye for consistent comfort.
Proclear 1 Day contact lenses use PC as its wetting agent, a molecule found naturally in our cell membrane which helps the lens to attract and retain water, for a continuous layer of moisture on your eyes. This technology also doesn’t allow the moisture to evaporate, for hydration that lasts the entire day. Both lenses have a light blue tint which makes it easier to see the lens and therefore handle it.
Which is better, Acuvue Moist or Proclear 1 Day?
Both of these daily disposable contact lenses have very similar water contents and both use their own wetting agents to keep moisture within the lens. Acuvue Moist is a very popular lens and also has the added benefit of UV protection, the Proclear lens does not. However, Proclear 1 Day has a higher oxygen permeability and is a more affordable option. For the most accurate advice that is tailored to you and your eyes, you should always seek the advice of an eye care professional.
