Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Mother's Day 2020 is March 22nd. We take a look at some of the best pampering gifts and experiences you can treat your mum to this Mother's Day.

Mothering Sunday is a time of year where we can show love and gratitude to those who raised us. On this special day, we tend to give personalised gifts in the form of flowers, hampers or activities to enjoy together.

A mindfulness retreat

Take the stress out of life with a mindfulness retreat. On this trip, you’ll practice meditation, have lunch together and learn new ways to feel more peaceful in what can sometimes be a hectic world. A great gift idea if your mother is feeling a lot of stress.

A sweet treat hamper

Hampers are always a great idea, especially if your mother is a foodie. For the most luxurious hamper, it’s hard to do better than Fortnum and Mason. Their selection of preserves, biscuits and loose-leaf tea will turn your average tea time into a lavish affair. If your mum is diabetic, why not get her a low sugar hamper? That way she can still enjoy cookies and jam spreads without spiking her blood sugar.

The gift of scent

If you want something a little different to what LUSH has to offer, The White Company do a selection of hampers and gift sets at different price points. Filled with candles, reed diffusers and bath products, your mother’s home will soon be smelling like a personal spa in no time. Muji also does an excellent diffuser that releases vaporised water and essential oils into the room.

Build your own hamper

If you don’t like the look of the hampers available online and in the shops, you could make your own personalised hamper. All you’ll need is a wicker basket, some straw or coloured tissue paper and the items you want to include. If your mum doesn’t have a sweet tooth, you could include cheese and crackers with grapes and relishes instead. If she’s into beauty then you could build a pamper set with beauty products, bath bombs, a scented candle and our Thera Pearl Eye Mask. She'll have everything she'll need to create her own at-home spa.

You could also include some glamourous new designer sunglasses in her hamper. For an oversized look, try the Calvin Klein CK8508S sunglasses in black. For a more understated addition to her look, the Le Specs Fine Specimen sunglasses in matte black will take your mother effortlessly from the sidewalk to the beach in style.

An afternoon tea

A classic gift for Mother’s Day will always be the afternoon tea. If you’re looking for one with a twist, Red Letter Day do a gin afternoon tea and cooking tutorial in one. You’ll relax with a gin cocktail, a selection of cakes and sandwiches whilst you watch a live cooking class at The Smart School of Cookery.

A family portrait

You’ll probably get bonus points if you draw or paint your family, but if you’re not a natural-born artist, you can ask the people at Posterhaste to make you a personalised family portrait. The drawing can be ordered as a print or a poster, with the option of frames available too.

Maintain good eye health

If your mum is the type to prefer practical gifts like socks and cosy cardigans, why not buy her a few months of contact lenses and some eye care products? Sometimes the gift we’re least excited to give is the one most greatly received.
