Learn to cook from scratch
Freshly cooked food is far healthier than ready-made, convenience meals. You will know exactly what is going onto your plate and into your body. Ready-made meals often contain high levels of sugar, salt and added preservatives to make them last longer. They usually have to go through processes that reduce the amount of nutrients the food retains.
Freshly cooked meals taste fresher, fuller and give you a feeling of satisfaction that you made the meal yourself. Most people avoid cooking because they feel it takes time, but practice will make your meal preparation faster and more enjoyable over time. There are plenty of nutritious and great tasting meals that can be made in under 30 minutes.
Another great advantage of cooking from scratch: it’s cheaper. Unless you’re following the recipes on Goop and buy rare mushrooms from exotic locations, cooking from scratch is cheaper than buying ready meals and definitely cheaper than eating out. It also forces you to meal plan which means taking stock of how much you spend on food, and exactly what food you buy, so you can give yourself some variety.
On top of this, nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, which can be found in oily fish like salmon and tuna, can be highly beneficial for your eyes. As can vitamins C and E, which can be found in oranges and other citrus fruits.
Exercise regularly
Exercise doesn’t have to mean pumping iron with heavy weights, or training like an athlete for the summer Olympics.
Gyms have become more creative over the years and offer a wide variety of classes, from spin sessions accompanied by bass pumping music, to dance inspired workouts, you can find something that fits your personal tastes and helps you stay fit and healthy, while having fun.
If you’d rather save money, take a jog around your local park, or buy some in-home gym equipment and create a routine that fits your own schedule.
Want a personal trainer? Private workout sessions are no longer reserved for wealthy movie stars doing drills for their next superhero role. There are plenty of free online video tutorials and courses that allow you to have a VIP workout session at the click of a button, in the comfort of your own home.
If you wear glasses, switch to contact lenses while exercising, they offer a complete field of vision and unlike glasses, will not slip off. 1 Day Acuvue Moist is our best-selling daily disposable and provides all day comfort for even the most dry and sensitive eyes.
Drink more water
Your body is made up of almost 60% of water, meaning that you must stay adequately hydrated to replace any water that gets lost. The age-old advice is that you should drink 8 glasses of water a day, although this is disputed depending on who you talk to, and in reality, the majority of people don’t drink this much. A few glasses a day, plus more on top if it’s hotter is adequate for most people.
Don’t use fizzy drinks as a substitute for water. As well as being full of sugar, they’re bad for your teeth! Drinking water regular can also help those who suffer from dry eyes. Carry a bottle of water in your bag and take regular top ups throughout the day to keep you hydrated.
Hydration through drinking water is also the key to healthy eyes, while you can even go one step further on that front and try out one of our moisturising and hydrating eye drops. Blink Contacts Vials are ideal for contact lens wearers with busy lifestyles, they’re small enough to fit into a wallet and can even be applied when you have your lenses in.
Make sure you’re getting enough sleep
If only we functioned more like some of our friends in the animal kingdom. Giraffes, for example, sleep on average for about 2-3 hours a day, often less. Imagine how much more you could get done if you only had to sleep for such a short amount of time. Sadly for us, lack of sleep in humans can lead to fatigue, loss of concentration, mood swings, reduced accuracy in doing daily tasks, hallucinations and can even trigger other sleep related conditions. Ideally, you should aim to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep a day.
Sleep is integral to brain function. As you sleep, your brain forms new pathways that help you to learn and retain information. Don’t skimp on your bed-time.
If you suffer from dry and irritated eyes, Artelac Nighttime Gel provides protection and fast, effective relief from uncomfortable symptoms. Simply apply the gel before bed to enjoy exceptional overnight comfort and long-lasting protection even after you’ve put your contact lenses back in. With the same pH as natural tears, the gel offers soothing treatment for even the most sensitive of eyes.

Remember to treat yourself
Life keeps us busy and we sometimes forget to give time to ourselves, make sure to treat yourself every once in a while. Studies have shown we feel much more fulfilled when we purchase active experiences rather than material things. Participate in your community more, give back and volunteer, we feel good when we help others.
Make yourself a bucket list and start ticking those tasks off. Bungee jump, sky dive, road trip; why not? Take up a new hobby, travel more, do things that will expand your outlook on life and overall happiness. The world is big and there’s lots to see and do.
If you’re a first-time customer, treat yourself to 10% off of your first order. We also offer 5% off of all reoocuring orders to students currently studying in university.
Here’s to feeling good!
