Founded in 1975 by Jim Jannard and named after his dog, Oakley is lauded for design and high-performance eyewear finished in the highest quality. In the 1980s, Oakley began designing sunglasses, revolutionising the sporting eyewear industry with Eyeshades. They were made for professional cyclists, and when Greg LeMond approached the brand in 1986, Oakley supplied him with a pair he wore when he won Tour de France that year. After the success of their athletic sunglasses, the Frogskins became legendary when created in the ‘80s – they are a collector’s item now. Even today, Oakley continue to push the boundaries of sunglasses design and technology, while athletes offer their input and test the exceptional creations.
