Those embracing the trend can be seen in pink clothing (usually dresses) along with bright pink accessories like shoes, handbags and Barbie-pink sunglasses. When you search the word ‘Barbiecore’ on TikTok, countless videos show up of make-up tutorials, hairstyle demos and outfits, all with a striking pink theme. Pink only started to be used in the marketing for the famous doll in the ‘70s, in an attempt to attract younger children to the toy. That effort was a huge success and now pink is strongly associated with the brand.
